Dark amber glass ambrotype 13 x 18 cm

May 2014
A rainy day, foggy when the sun finally broke through. Rain and old gear are not best friends, but it seems that rain and Wet Plate are completely fine with each other.
Accompanied by the sound of forging metal and sizzling water from the blacksmith next to our spot, we sort of we bumped into a bearded sitter (whose plate melted under varnish last year), two ladies selling old fashioned candy, a family taking a break, and as always we bumped into some great ‘silent’ stills…

“Emrys” tintype 18 cm x 24 cm

Emrys, is a wonderful ‘sitter’. I guess he’s used to it, but he still manages to not overpose, or get bored. This is one of the of 20 plates that he posed for that day. He held track of it and aimed for a (new) world record!

European Collodion Weekend 2014
Again it is time for us all wet plate nerds to gather around the fire (lit with collodion of course) to have a good in depth conversation about our chemistry, our mistakes and successes. Of course in relationships like these, there is a moment for booze, for frustration and relief (always when the group picture is done). A hello, a hug, a kiss and goodbye again. Until we meet again folks! Thanks!

Partytime Tintype Studio @ LobsterHouse
We had some drinks, took along our chemistry and shot some partypeople. Need we say more?
Of course with this we refer to wet plate collodion at a private party…

“Ron” tintype 18 cm x 24 cm
We, as collodionistic freaks, have (secret) gatherings. Fotografica Fair in Nieuwegein is one of these moments where we meet our fellow lens hunters, collectors and other interesting people (not so secret). Last March we did some demo’s with Alex Timmermans. For that we used Alex’ Dallmeyer 3A to ‘shoot’ some visitors (which were not so many, as it was a perfect Saturday for the first BBQ of the year). This is one of our favorites plates that day. I love the way this plate appears simple & clean but still friendly and soft with a bokeh that makes me drool.

“Sébastien” tintype 18 cm x 24 cm

April 2014
Aude et Sébastien, two wonderful persons intriged by the collodion process too. That is passion + passion combined with a fascination for crafts in general, accompanied with some lunch and wine. The recipe for a super inspiring afternoon.

“Hanna” tintype 13 cm x 18 cm
For the greater good we sometimes put a The Tintype Studio shoot on auction. This time the auction was for an organization called Get It Done, an online crowdfunding platform for small human-needs development projects all over the world. Check out their projects at http://www.getitdone.org/
Hanna Verboom won our lot this time.  (We were polite enough not to ask at what bid…)
This is one of the plates we shot that day! Thanks, Hanna and family, for a lovely day with some extraordinary results!

Sweet Summer @ Kroller Muller, July 13th 2013
My first reaction (driving into the Natural Park surrounding the museum):
“Wow, I wish I could live here…”
Second reaction (driving directly with our rental bus into the Sculpture Garden):
“Wow I wish I could camp here…forever”
Third reaction (rinsing our first plate):
“Wow… this is not work, this is holiday!”

On invitation of Kroller Muller’s Sweet Summer, we packed our gear, and drove to the most beautiful area in the Netherlands, the Veluwe.
Unfortunately we don’t have permission (yet) to publish all the lovely plates we made of some sculptures, but here are some results!

Note: July the 27th we’re there again, for wet plates in the sculpture garden! We hope to see you there!
